COVID-19 Response

By the beginning of March 2020, COVID-19 was rapidly spreading all over the world and reality was changing forever. In response to the unprecedented challenges of this time, Kedma mobilized its international volunteer base to address the new difficulties arising from the Coronavirus. These efforts lead to the launch of the Dial-A-Savta and Homework Helpers campaigns, which are programs aimed at supporting Jewish communities internationally.

Dial-A-Savta

The Dial-A-Savta project was born of the need to connect with elderly and immuno-compromised individuals who must quarantine in their homes due to the health risks posed by the Coronavirus.  Through Dial-A-Savta, volunteers reach out to these individuals via phone and zoom calls and offer company and conversation in order to alleviate feelings of isolation.  Kedma is pleased to partner with Ginot Ha’Ir in Jerusalem, GIFT UK in London, Dor le Dor in New Jersey, and JASA in New York City in an effort to maximize Dial-A-Savta’s reach and effect.

Homework Helpers

In order to help families that are struggling during the pandemic, Kedma launched the Homework Helpers Program which matches volunteer tutors with kids from single parent families and homes under financial stress. These tutors are available to help in a myriad of subjects and work with students ranging from kindergarten through high school.

Lenny Solomon Concert

On Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. EDT/7:30 p.m. Israel time, Kedma presented a live “Facebook Performance” by Shlock Rock’s Lenny Solomon. Lenny sang many Shlock Rock favorites that were uplifting and that helped brighten the mood during the quarantine.
