Israel Volunteer Missions

Kedma volunteers show up wherever they’re needed—with heart, creativity, and a can-do spirit. Participants include schools, families, shul groups, and companies looking for meaningful team-building experiences. These missions are perfect for anyone looking to connect with Israel in a hands-on, impactful way.

Whether it’s running carnivals for army families, volunteering at hospitals, or working with individuals with special needs, our group missions are all about giving with purpose and joy.

We also:

  • Pack care packages for soldiers, army moms, and miluim families
  • Prepare meals for soldiers nationwide at various soldier rest stops and help centers.
  • Support children from at-risk homes with creative programming

You’ll find Kedma volunteers wherever they’re needed most—delivering not just food, but encouragement and warmth.

Kedma’s volunteers bring energy and compassion to every mission. No task is too small when it’s done with love.

Gap Year

Volunteering

Launched in September 2019, the Kedma Volunteer Program (KVP) is Kedma’s flagship initiative, connecting gap year students with meaningful, hands-on volunteering opportunities throughout Jerusalem.

Every week, Kedma manages volunteer placements for seminary and yeshiva students across the city. Since its inception, over one thousand students have stepped up—giving their time, energy, and heart to causes that truly matter. From mentoring children from at-risk homes to visiting the elderly and supporting women’s and children’s shelters, the KVP empowers students to make a real difference in Israeli society.

When the COVID-19 pandemic brought lockdowns and uncertainty, the KVP didn’t pause—it adapted. Thanks to the program’s flexibility, volunteering continued safely and meaningfully:

  • 50% of students volunteered in face-to-face, Corona-safe settings

  • 50% contributed remotely—tutoring, checking in with isolated seniors, and assembling care packages

When war broke out in Israel, Kedma adapted again—quickly expanding its efforts to support the wives and children of miluim families and joining grassroots initiatives powering the national effort. From childcare and meal support to morale-boosting projects, KVP students continue to step up in new ways, offering practical help and emotional strength to those on the frontlines and their families.

Today, as Jerusalem’s needs grow, Kedma’s reputation for creativity and swift action has expanded the reach of the KVP. New opportunities allow students to take on impactful roles that strengthen the fabric of Jerusalem’s community life.

Kedma Cohort Leadership

The Kedma Cohort Volunteer Leadership Program for Women is one of our signature initiatives—developing tomorrow’s leaders through hands-on giving. As a core part of our gap year volunteering, the Cohort brings together women from midrashot across Israel who want to level up the standard gap-year giving. Participants plan monthly volunteer programs, cultivate leadership skills, and engage with diverse sectors of Israeli society. This immersive experience empowers young women to make a meaningful impact—during their gap year and beyond.

Kedma

Connects

Kedma Connects empowers individuals and communities in the U.S. and Canada to support Israel through meaningful, hands-on initiatives—even from afar.

The program was born organically: former volunteers who had experienced Kedma during their time in Israel began reaching out, wanting to continue giving back. At the same time, Israeli organizations were turning to Kedma for help—seeking reliable support and practical assistance. Kedma became the bridge, connecting those abroad who want to make a difference with real, on-the-ground needs in Israel.

Whether it’s packing care packages for soldiers, running community drives, or organizing remote volunteer projects, Kedma Connects ensures that every initiative supports a genuine, worthwhile cause. And of course, no Kedma event is complete without our signature touch—the letter drive. Every package includes handwritten notes to the recipients, because for us, it’s not just what you give, but how you give it. Thoughtfulness is at the heart of everything we do.

Kedma Connects makes long-distance giving personal. Purposeful. Powerful.

Join us—from wherever you are—and help strengthen Israel, one letter, one package, one act of kindness at a time.

Mitzvah Milestone

Events

Marking Milestones is Kedma’s initiative that transforms personal celebrations into powerful acts of giving. Whether it’s a birthday, bar/bat mitzvah, wedding, or another life event, we help individuals and families connect their simchas to Israeli causes through meaningful volunteering—either in person or remotely.

By tapping into Kedma’s extensive network of non-profits across Israel, we offer ways to elevate your special moments with purpose. From packing food for families in need to supporting vulnerable populations, your celebration becomes a bridge—linking hearts across the globe and strengthening Israeli society in real, tangible ways.

These experiences don’t just support important causes—they enrich the lives of those celebrating. In a world reshaped by war and antisemitism, Marking Milestones reminds us of the power of community, compassion, and shared joy.

Celebrate meaningfully. Give wholeheartedly.
Join us in making every milestone a moment that matters.

Run for

Israel

Each year, Kedma proudly partners with Bnei Akiva of the U.S. & Canada. This partnership aligns seamlessly with Kedma’s mission: empowering individuals to give back through meaningful acts of service within Israeli society.

Together, we hit the ground running—literally. Our annual marathon event is more than a race—it’s a celebration of shared values, community spirit, and the drive to make a difference. We run to raise awareness, to fund vital volunteering efforts, and to strengthen our shared vision of a vibrant, giving Israeli society.

This year’s marathon took place on March 21, 2025. Stay tuned for the next event!
