When I returned home early from seminary due to the Coronavirus, I knew that I wanted to give back. I would sit in my house all day and hear about the amazing Hatzala volunteers, nurses, and doctors who were out there on the front lines. Although staying home was the right thing to do, I felt guilty and wanted to do more and contribute.

Thanks to Kedma’s Dial-A-Savta Initiative, I found an outlet for my need to give back. I call my ‘Savta’ once a week and we speak, I make sure that she is okay, and I ask her about her day. This is a simple task, yet it infuses so much meaning in my week. Through Dial-A-Savta, in some way, I am able to do my part as a good community member.

Kedma allows seminary girls to volunteer as they learn, and, through programs such as Dial-A-Savta, enables its volunteers all over the world to give back to our communities during these unprecedented times.
